About Mescar Fisheries

Mescar Fisheries is an exclusive, members-only sanctuary for discerning anglers who value both exceptional fishing and a welcoming community. Nestled in serene surroundings, our meticulously maintained waters offer the perfect balance of challenge and reward. We believe great angling is as much about the experience as the catch, which is why we’ve created a place where members can relax, connect, and share their passion. MESCAR FISHERIES

Our Story

For over 25 years, Mescar Fisheries has been a much-loved destination for anglers across Merseyside and beyond. Once open farmland, the site was transformed by its dedicated owner into a thriving coarse fishery with three purpose-built lakes, a stock pond, and a welcoming facilities building.

Location

Just a mile from the village of Lydiate, in the borough of Sefton, Mescar enjoys a peaceful rural setting with great transport links. We welcome anglers from Ormskirk, Skelmersdale, Liverpool, Wigan, and further afield, with the M58 offering easy access to the M6. The fishery is reached via Greens Lane, along a short track from the public highway.

The Lakes

Mescar Lake – Our oldest lake, dug in 1998, spans 3.7 acres with 62 pegs, bays, an island, and a mature feel. Carp grow to 23lbs, with bream, roach, rudd, ide, and perch also plentiful.
Mistral Lake – A 2.9-acre purpose-built match lake with 58 pegs, designed for consistent sport from every spot. Stock includes carp to 16lbs, chub, and barbel.
Marin Lake – At 3.3 acres and 39 pegs, this match lake features a long central island and is home to carp, bream, and roach.

Facilities

Our converted container building serves as both café and bait shop (Pellets for sale) / match room, with angler’s WC’s for convenience. A large central car park, with hard-standing space for around 100 vehicles, makes visits easy and stress-free.
